Eligibility Criteria for Honorary Doctrate
What is an Honorary Doctorate Award (Honoris Causa)?
An Honorary Doctorate Award is a non-academic recognition granted by a university or institution in which all traditional academic requirements—such as enrollment, coursework, examinations, and dissertations—are waived. Known by the Latin terms honoris causa (“for the sake of honor”) or ad honorem (“to the honor”), this award is a prestigious acknowledgment of an individual’s outstanding achievements or contributions in their field. It may be conferred upon individuals who have no previous affiliation with the awarding institution or even without prior postsecondary education, serving purely as a mark of respect and honor.
Eligibility for Honorary Doctorate Award
An individual may be considered for the Honorary Doctorate Award if they meet any of the following criteria:
-
Hold a Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
-
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university, along with at least five years of experience in social service through a registered NGO.

-
Have dedicated a minimum of twenty years of their life to serving society and contributing to social causes, with their work being recognized and appreciated by the community, local administration, state government, and central government.
